UPSTAGE, DOWNSTAGE is a look at life in a contemporary repertory company as it deals with backstage opening night.  The zany action takes place in the Green Room/Dressing Room of the Harper’s Follies Theater in a small town somewhere.

Once a burlesque house owned by the Charles Paul Harper Family, the theater has risen (or attempts to rise) above its risqué beginnings and even has its own repertory company, usually devoted to itself to Classical Theater. But because the present Mr. Harper is too cheap to change the original name on the marquee the theater house continues to be called “Harper Follies”.
